Encounter is a live-streaming media performance that is live, improvisational, and multimedia. Using a custom-built platform, this project constructs a game-like narrative architecture that gives rise to a replayable performance piece.
In October 2024, the Fourcast Lab staged three live performances. An in-persion and online audience played together and simultaneously, interacting with three actors (one at a time) to tell a series of short stories. The in-person theatrical audience selected two objects to place in each scene. The online audience interacted with the actor in real-time. They took on a collective role, becoming a ghost, a voice from the future, an alien swarm, an artificial intelligence, death come to collect, a group of talking plushies, a user interacting with an artificial inteligence agent, and much more. Each playthrough offered a unique encounter and a new story.
